ANASTACIA BIJOU

Anastacia’s love affair with fashion began as a child. “My mother had an immersive collection of fashion books which has been fuelling me with creative stories all my life,” she says. Blessed with the eye of a natural-born creative, her voracious curiosity finds beauty in everything from art to interiors. “I’m fascinated by architecture and our everyday environments,” she says. “Achieving beauty in a not so attractive environment I find very interesting. It creates a challenge.”

With a passion for dramatic, impactful images that tell a story, Anastacia is driven to create work that pushes the envelope. “I’m most inspired by photographers such as Helmut Newton and Mark Borthwick,” she says. “I’m fascinated by that era where boundaries were pushed and imagery had a very cinematic effect.”

My signature aesthetic is… classic and elegant with a theatric and dramatic twist. I like to fuse luxury with the real world.

My favourite type of creative briefs are… those in which I’m involved throughout the entire process. I pride myself on my storytelling skills and am not only passionate about the fashion the model wears, but the emotion, composition, location, and all the aspects that are presented within an image.

If I could shoot an editorial of anyone (living or dead) it would be… I would love a day in the studio with Stella Tennant and Helmut Newton. To me, Stella possessed such strength, yet fragility in her images – and Helmut is by far my biggest photographic inspiration. I adore everything he did.

My muse is… Cate Underwood. She oozes elegance and cool-girl luxe. She’s an extremely talented model and photographer, and to top it off, a mother and DJ. Two words: power woman.

The surprising piece of kit saved the day on a shoot is… shoulder pads… always shoulder pads!

The energy I bring to a shoot is… passion, enthusiasm, and focus.

If I wasn’t a stylist I’d be… an interior designer. I’ve been house hunting since the age of 12!
